About me

Hi, I'm Davide.

I am a licensed tour guide in Venice and a historian of religions. Before walking people through the alleys I spent years among books, libraries and journeys (mostly in Japan) studying how human beings believe, ritualise and tell the sacred.

I bring that outlook to Venice too. For me it is not an open-air museum but a city built by people who had a faith, a market, fears and ambitions: merchants, exiles, ambassadors, craftspeople, different communities that learned to live together (not always well).

How I work

  • Stories, not lists. Fewer dates, more questions: why is it like this? Who decided? What did it mean to the people walking past it every day?
  • Small groups. You walk better, listen better and can ask a few more questions.
  • Tailor-made. If you are short on time, travelling with children or have a specific interest, we build the route together.
  • Professional for the travel trade. If you are a DMC, tour operator or agency, there is a dedicated section with reserved rates, invoicing and clear terms.

In short

  • Licensed tour guide · [licence no. — to be added]
  • Languages: Italian, English, Spanish, Japanese
  • Historian of religions and independent researcher

If you like reading, on my blog davidetomio.it I write about religions, Japan and lesser-told stories (in Italian). Here, in the Venice blog, you will find curiosities and practical tips about the city.
